My work searches out the uncanny, probing the absurd and commonplace in human behavior.  I employ figures, animals or hybridizations in my work to manipulate or replace the traditional figure.  Stripping the specificity of singular features I can playfully engage elements of both animal and human behaviour to reveal the more universal aspects of our selves, free of the associations we carry for our own species, thus inciting greater empathy and insight.

I make linocuts because I feel the graphic and monochromatic nature grounds the supernatural elements of my work.  The graphic quality lends the fiction an austere, documentary character.  Linocuts involve a slow, deliberate process and the image that develops is the result of an intense form of physical excavation. The marks document a somewhat harsh yet whimsical physical process that mirrors the nature of the images.
